Laurent’s Reshapes Croissants To Make French Toast

Croissants could be the best thing that happened to french toast since sliced bread. Laurent’s Grand’Ma French Toast, found at the Mar Vista Farmers Market, uses a family recipe that was born out of a need to make use of leftover croissants. The result is something that is a cross between bread pudding and a quiche. It’s round like a pizza, crispy like a pancake, and jiggles like scrambled eggs.

Grand’Ma French Toast can also be found at Laurent’s “Le” Coffee Shop on Washington Blvd., also in the Mar Vista neighborhood. The shop serves breakfast and lunch, and bakes croissants and other pastries that share the same yummy DNA as its french toast. Luckily, you can also find their pastries at farmers markets in Playa Vista, Torrance, Pacific Palisades, and Santa Monica’s Sunday market on Main Street, and at their sister shop in Temecula.
